This FPJ staff panel will spotlight the current death penalty landscape, the shifting legal and political climate, and how strategic, determined mitigation efforts are keeping people off death row and challenging systems of harm.
Our Panelists:
Diane Lozano, Executive Director – Former State Public Defender of Wyoming, Diane led a de facto moratorium on the death penalty in Wyoming, oversaw the clearing of death row, and helped ensure zero death verdicts during her tenure.
Aditi Joshi, Mitigation Specialist – Connects with the families and communities of our clients and collects the written documentation of our clients’ lives globally to build their life narratives, often stopping death sentences well in advance of trial. In humanizing our capital clients, Aditi leaves no stone unturned.
Rigo Gomez, Director of Impact & Healing Circle Facilitator – A former FPJ client and living, breathing example of what happens when this work succeeds. Rigo is past, present, and future in motion—proof that redemption is not only possible, but powerful.
Together, they will reflect on how the work we do at FPJ is pivotal in the fight against a system that is becoming less about humanity.
